We are very pleased to host final year students from Industrial Engineering Department, NED University, Karachi, to perform with us baseline working on VALUE STREAM MAPPING (VSM) to optimize Budgets, Expenses, Productivity, Manpower, Waste and Process Management at Naveena Denim Mills.
The project’s base was to optimize performances to generate customer specified value products through adoption of lean paradigm into its production as it becomes a vital factor to gain competitive advantage in the market. It’s particularly important for textile sector as the textile industry is a major contributor in the country’s export gains. The team tried to explore the factor to optimize overall performance and lead time through lean tool: VSM (Value Steam Mapping), which visualizes the transformation of entire process from raw materials to customer dispatch.
In future VSM will be implemented at Naveena Denim, which will reflect the shortcomings of the production system, generating an ‘as is’ or a current state map. Hence, various process management techniques will be used to overcome the identified problems in the system. Using lean manufacturing tools a Future VSM will be engendered, signaling possible improvement opportunity. The activity will further be continued by another group members from NED soon.
